QUESTION #1 - What things should be PRESERVED? (Key: LL=Lay Leader // P=Pastor)

A. OPTIONS RELATED TO MOBILIZATION
	LL	2. Growing and strengthening our present churches
	P	mobilization / strengthening of existing churches, LEAD teams
	P	Pastoral Support "LEAD" type activities that encourage pastors to thrive and share their churches resources/knowledge
	P	--Mobilization: LEAD teams, with funding for training but not hotels or meals. It would be good also to preserve the teams themselves rather than divide up existing partnerships.
	LL	Lead Teams particularly the youth pastors
	P	Preserve LEAD teams (even with little financial support). Preserve availability of DEM (or similar) to consult with/resource the Leadership teams and pastors of the existing IBC churches and church plants.

	P	LEAD Teams are by far the most beneficial ministry/activity that the IBC offers and that has been an encouragement to me/us. I should add, that having the DEM present, is KEY to keeping these LEAD Teams connected to what's happening in the rest of the region AND for being encouraged by his wisdom, vision, and inspiration.
	P	Personally, I would like LEAD teams to be preserved.
	LL	I believe we are doing a good job, Pastor's and churches need help.

B. OPTIONS RELATED TO MULTIPLICATION
	P	--Multiplication: funding and networks for encouragement and accountability for church planters
	P	Preserve Iowa Church planting support/prayer/efforts.

	P	Church planting is of utmost importance and needs to be retained, regardless of the future format.

C. OPTIONS RELATED TO "MEMORIES" & YOUTH
	LL	PLCC, needs to be preserved with a camp committee that has an interest to progress.
	LL	Camp needs to be continued, it is an invaluable resource to our communities.

	P	Camp, Family camp is a good event for my church
	P	Pine Lake Camp should be moved aside to become it's own entity, thus preserving it's integrity and longevity. A board of directors made up of pastors and lay leaders from across Iowa should oversee this ministry. We need to keep it from falling into the same muck and mire that our Iowa conference has fallen into the last several years.
	P	--Memories: summer kids camps, men's and women's retreats

	P	Preserve PLCC camp operations (even if we must "spin-off" as a completely independent enterprise).
	P	The camp is a great avenue of ministry and should be strongly considered in any new alliance.

	LL	I think camp has been very fruitful and seems to be a good investment from what I have read in the news letters. Some of our church planting sound very interesting like the one in Waukon Iowa. The event we used to call "Break Away" has been a hit to our young people at Pleasant View but I am not sure if that is exactly an IBC event.
	LL	the camping facility's at Pine lake, for winter retreat and summer camps/retreats.
	LL	1. The camp. This is a highlight for young people. It frequently contributes to their salvation. For some of the churches this will be their biggest out reach of the year.
	LL	Pine Lake should be preserved completely.
	LL	I believe that the ministries and activities that need to be preserved include camp,

	P	I think everything should be open to discussion and possibly change. Camp is a great ministry but it's not the only way to do things. Obviously since so many youth groups are involved in many other camps and ministries.

	P	I think we should save the camp no matter what. I think we should look at how much income we receive as a district and if it can operate the camp, we need not do anything else. I don't believe the other options are beneficial for our district.
	P	1.That Pine Lake Camp remain a vital part of the ministry.
	LL	Pine Lake to continue to be used. Great place for people throughout the State to use. Promotion of this facility needs to be enhanced somehow.
	LL	I think that one of our most precious assets is our camp, It is the meeting place of our conference. It will be very important that we keep our identity intact. It would become so easy for us to be lost in the shuffle of a bigger group.

	LL	Camp ministry. We may need to change it, but in our world we need a get away more than ever.

D. OPTIONS RELATED TO FUTURE DISTRICT OPERATION
	LL	I think that any alliances made we should not expect to preserve any of the IBC ministries/activities. When we start to dictate preserving things it puts everyone on the defense from the start. The reason for the alliance is to grow with them and grow the churches in Iowa. Not to keep doing the same things that have not worked.
	LL	I don't think there should be any "sacred cow". I think we should look at this as a place to start over. What would the I.B.C. look like if it started new today? Many times the things we want to hang onto become like anchors slowing us down. If their is something that needs preserved it must be something that is deeply deeply deeply needed by many in the I.B.C.
	P	added level of individuals responsibility to the whole.
	P	I think everything should be open to discussion and possibly change. Camp is a great ministry but it's not the only way to do things. Obviously since so many youth groups are involved in many other camps and ministries.
	LL	IBC either needs to be refocused or combined with other leadership.
	LL	I do not Believe we need to maintain any specific present organizational structure, (ie-employee titles, offices, staff, camp and etc) BUT it would seem there would be some presence of employee support within the physical boundaries of Iowa to maintain the above 3 needs.
	LL	prayer, Leadership training.
	LL	At this stage of the proceedings I would take no position as to a priority of ministries of the IBC. I think it important that we maintain those ministries no matter which direction we move. Not doing so would serve to create an even bigger disconnect, in my opinion.
	P	A sincere question: I wonder if different leadership could still preserve the Iowa Conference?

E. OPTIONS RELATED TO DISTRICT IDENTITY
	LL	I think that one of our most precious assets is our camp, It is the meeting place of our conference. It will be very important that we keep our identity intact. It would become so easy for us to be lost in the shuffle of a bigger group.
	LL	Iowa identity as a part of any alliance
	P	We need ministries/activities that preserve our present identity or produce a new one. Right now Pine Lake and the Annual Gathering are our only two ministries/activities that preserve identity. If they are eliminated, then something needs to replace them.

F. OPTIONS RELATED TO MISSIONS
	LL	Outreach to local missions.
	LL	Support for conference missionaries

G. MISCELLANEOUS OPTIONS
	LL	I have seen and heard many discussions about this very subject. I know that the GARBC has gone through this same very issue. I believe that first and foremost is that we as Christians need to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, and mind. And to love our neighbor as our selves. We need to be careful not to lose our first love. We may and need to have alliances with other Bible believing groups. However, we must not compromise our core beliefs in what the Bible teaches
	P	I would say that since my number one strategy is to merge with the Midwest district. all of the ministries I would like are already in use there.
	LL	It would have been nice to see a list of all the ministry's that are a part of the IBC. Hard for me to recall all the current ministries
	LL	What new alliances? Why do we need new alliances and with whom are we aligning?
	LL	Not sure. I don't know enough about what is currently happening.
	LL	I think that we still need to stay focused on the fact that since that we received Jesus into our lives and that He delivered us, we are to share that same message with others. This can happen in many ways, but this is still a basic truth. Bible studies, small groups, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, Camps.
