Mobilization
coaches have met to focus on mastering Phase One--Leadership
and Congregational Vitality. This phase walks a church
through a series of three leadership retreats and several carefully
selected books and tools to help prepare their leadership for the vision
God wants to give them. "It's not so much
a program as a way of thinking," says Gary Harrison, the
designated BGC trainer for the process. "Only
God can bring renewal, but we can work toward building the framework
that he will fill ."
Skip
Hansen, District Minister added,
I
believe we can best describe the Re-tool Kit activities and
mobilization as "walking a pathway."
First,
a pathway also connects us to the fundamental nature of
Christianity--our personal spiritual walk with God. "Those
that are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of
God."
Second,
it puts everyone involved into a "discovery" mindset. People
who are walking a pathway are constantly looking around... seeking to
discover whatever is there for them to see and learn.
Renewal
doesn't come because we have DONE a bunch of stuff. Renewal
comes because we've DISCOVERED a bunch of stuff--GOD STUFF!
Mobilization,
as a pathway, gives us an opportunity to discover a bunch of
spiritual, relational, and organizational "stuff" that God
would have us find out about ourselves... both individually and in our
mission together!
While
the Retool Kit is specifically designed to help mobilize plateaued
churches, any church can benefit from a fresh focus on leadership,
vision, and structure. Churches interested in learning more about
the Retool Kit process should contact the district office.
